What is the typical membership size of a fitness club in NYC, per location?

I was thinking NYSC or Equinox. I am looking for the typical range of the membership size, not precise figures.

Here are their options for membership, with the cheapest starting at about $49 per month:

Join all Clubs (All Access)

An All Access Membership grants you access to all Equinox Clubs across the country. That includes 35 clubs in the following locations: New York City, New York Metro, Connecticut, San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Chicago and Florida.

is it worth joining a fitness club or a waste of $?

So I’m thinking about joining Bally’s Total Fitness to kick start me new years resolution since i NEVER get to it. Anyways this girl across the street just got attacked by a guy and I think its b/c she runs around the neighborhood in spandex and is on the phone talking outside, so she caused attention to herself. I live near campus and there are always so many other girls my age (twenties) running. Anyways, should I join a club and end up paying initiation fee and $35 a month to join or should I just continue to try to run outside. I’m in college so I think $35 is a lot of money to spend every month. What should I do?

Is it true that doing group exercises at a fitness club would make me less shy?

My mom thinks it would.

She’s probably right.

Martial Arts or Dance Classes are likely to have the same effect, because most group activities let you see other people having fun and interacting (even ‘disciplined’ activities can be fun, if you enjoy improving your ability and learning new things). That ‘atmosphere’ makes you want to be more ‘proactive’ instead of hanging back.

A Drama group is even better for overcoming shyness, because a lot of the ‘games’ are designed to make people more confident. Even very ‘extroverted’ people can suddenly become shy when they have to perform on stage in front of an audience, so for any kind of performing arts it’s important to be able to overcome this reaction.

how long after u had a c section can u start going to a fitness club?

i just had a c-section about 3 months ago. i’m on birth control that makin gain much more weight. i want to start exercise and get my sexy back. how long u think i should wait..

Usually 6 weeks, assuming a normal recovery. Check with your doctor of course, but 3 months should be ample time. If you feel good, start working out.
