Does anyone know anything about the Curves fitness centers?
Their website doesn’t say or show a lot, but was wondering specifically about the cost and their 6-meal a day diet. Is anyone a member there?
I use to be a member at curves the cost here was 30 dollars a moth i never heard about the meals also they want your checking account number they withdrawl it from your checking either way they get the money for 1 year once you sign there is no way to get out of it. My advice would be join your local YMCA or some other gym that does not require your monthly checking account…. Think about the what ifs i was in a wreck and could no go for 8 months that was 8 months i had to pay for when i tried to get out of it they told me no and when i first joined they told me i could get out of the contract if something happened also think about job layoffs and all that just something to think about

I was a member there, but I didn’t pay to work out there, my aunt did. So, I would say you should go there and ask them because I know stuff like that differs from where you go

I was a member and I liked it for about the first 2-3 weeks and after that I hated it. I am 23 and the only people in there was older people. I lost NO weight but I did lose inches in my arms which were not big to begin with. I joined when there was a good deal going on and I still had to pay 39.99 a month. I didn’t try their diet plan. I really would not recomend it. It got boring really quick.

I was a member for over a year and enthusiastic at first. Then it got monotonous. It cost me about $30 a month with electronic draft from my checking account. It took over a month to stop the payments after I put in writing that I was quitting.
I never bothered with their diet because it seemed to be just a money making scheme of theirs. There are so many good alternative weight loss programs, such as Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, etc.
The staff members where I went were not good examples. They were all extremely obese. You never saw them on the circuit. And they apparently did not follow the Curves diret program. The manager spent most of her time in her office. . .eating. Granted, they "may" have done the routine at some other point in the day. But you would think in 18 months I would have seen some sort of change.
The attitude of the staff was not sympathetic either. During my monthly weigh-in and measuring, the clerk noted my numbers had gone up instead of down. Instead of sympathy, she just sort of clucked and went "Tsk, tsk, naughty girl! You gained this month! Oh well!" That was very discouraging.
The staff was supposed to be safety spotters for everyone on the circuit. Instead if they were on the floor, they spent most of their time gabbing and socializing with certain members. They were also supposed to be sure we truly did stop for heartrate checks when prompted. The only time I saw staff doing what they should, was when owners/auditors were there watching.. The staff even told us, the auditors were there and asked that we help by stepping away from machines for heartrate check, etc.
I also read in a review of Curves that it is best for sedentary people who do no other exercise. And you can undo the results of one workout by eating one donut. Their machines do not have a way of increasing resistance either.
