It is possible, but if you keep it wrapped up in something, like a towel it will keep the steam out. Also if you don't want to put it on random songs, put it in a ziplock baggie and cut a hole in a corner (not by the zip) and put the cord through there and tape it with masking or scotch tape. The ziplock baggie would be the one that would be the very least likely to have it damaged.
